About the Course
This course is designed to provide you with the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to safely operate an abrasive wheel machine for cutting and grinding tasks. It emphasizes safety for both operators and those in the surrounding environment.

The course includes the following certification options:

  • Bench-mounted grinder
  • Bench-mounted cut-off saw
  • Handheld electric grinder or disc cutter
  • Handheld engine-driven disc cutter

Participants can be assessed for up to three certification options in a single day. If an additional certification is required, it will need to be completed on a separate day.

This course is carefully designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to safely operate an abrasive wheel machine.

The level of instruction provided will be tailored to your individual experience, with course durations ranging from one to four days depending on your needs.

The training combines both theory and practical sessions, followed by an assessment to ensure competence. The course will cover:

  • Abrasive Wheel Safety and Legal Requirements
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Understanding the Abrasive Wheel
  • Speed and Safety Considerations
  • Inspection, Handling, Transportation, and Storage
  • Machine and Wheel Components
  • Operating a Bench-Mounted Grinder
  • Handheld Electric Grinder/Disc Cutter Operation
  • Using a Bench-Mounted Cut-off Saw
  • Operating a Handheld Engine-Driven Disc Cutter
  • Theory Assessment
  • Practical Assessment

Upon successfully meeting the required standards, participants will be awarded a certificate of competence along with a Lantra Skills ID card as proof of their achievement.
