Our Powered Pallet Truck (PPT) Training course is designed to equip operators with the essential skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently operate powered pallet trucks. This course aligns with UK industry standards, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Course Duration

Novice Operators: 1 to 2 days, depending on the number of trainees and their learning pace.

Experienced Operators (without formal certification): ½ to 1 day, tailored to individual experience levels.

Refresher Training: ½ to 1 day, for operators seeking to renew their certification.

Individuals seeking to begin a career operating powered pallet trucks.

Operators with practical experience but lacking formal certification.

Certified operators needing to refresh their skills and renew their qualifications.

Assessment & Certification

Practical Assessment: Operators will demonstrate their ability to safely operate the PPT in various scenarios.

Theoretical Assessment: A written test covering key knowledge areas.

Certification: Upon successful completion, trainees will receive a certificate of basic training, valid for 5 years

Course Content

Theoretical Training
  • Understanding relevant legislation: Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 1998, LOLER 1998.
  • Operator safety codes and best practices.
  • Pre-use inspection procedures and maintenance checks.
  • Load assessment, stability factors, and safe handling techniques.
  • Understanding PPT controls, instruments, and hydraulic systems.
Practical Training
  • Starting, moving, steering, and stopping the PPT.
  • Operating with both laden and unladen pallets.
  • Stacking and de-stacking in various scenarios.
  • Driving on ramps and inclines.
  • Loading and unloading procedures for vehicles and storage areas.
  • Emergency procedures and hazard awareness.
