Scissor Lift (MEWP) Training
Our Scissor Lift Training course is designed to provide operators with the skills and knowledge required to safely operate vertical Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs), commonly known as scissor lifts. This training helps reduce the risk of working at height and ensures compliance with UK site safety standards.
Course Duration
Novice Operators: 2 day
Experienced / Refresher: Half day
Conversion (from boom lift or other MEWP types): Half day

Construction, warehouse, or maintenance staff who operate vertical MEWPs
Anyone required to work at height using scissor lifts
Employers ensuring staff meet Health & Safety and site access requirements
Course Content
Theoretical Knowledge
- Understanding MEWP types and categories
- Working at height regulations (WAHR 2005), PUWER & LOLER
- Fall prevention and use of safety harnesses (where applicable)
- Risk assessments, ground conditions, and site hazards
- Pre-use inspection and defect reporting
Practical Training
- Daily safety checks and machine familiarisation
- Safe startup, maneuvering, and elevation
- Use in confined areas and near obstacles
- Platform positioning and safe working techniques
- Emergency lowering procedures and shutdown
